Open Call for Artists and Makers

Calgary Gallery, Isle of Mull

November - December 2026

A new open exhibition inspired by Mull’s coast, wildlife, weather and wild landscape.

We’re inviting new and established artists and makers from Mull and further afield to take part.

  • The Theme

Work should connect with Mull’s coast, wildlife, weather and wild landscapes.
Work does not need to depict a particular place on Mull. We also welcome work with a broader Hebridean or west coast feel, from wildlife and seascapes to weather and more abstract responses.
Above all, the exhibition should feel at home on Mull. We are less likely to select work that is clearly identifiable as a landscape of somewhere else.

  • Who Can Apply

Open to artists and makers from Mull and further afield. Existing Calgary Gallery artists are very welcome to take part, but you don’t need to have exhibited with us before.

We’d particularly love to hear from artists and makers across Argyll and the Hebrides, whether you’re just starting to exhibit or have been showing work for years.

There is no fee to submit work to ATLANTIC.

  • What We Welcome

    Painting · Drawing & Illustration · Original Printmaking · Photography · Mixed Media · Ceramics · Sculpture · Jewellery

Work can be representational or abstract, functional or sculptural.

ATLANTIC is for original work. Original printmaking and exhibition-quality photography, including limited editions, are welcome. We will not be accepting reproduction prints for this exhibition.

  • What to Send

Submit up to two individual artworks, or a small cohesive collection of up to six pieces for ceramics and jewellery.

We’ll ask for an image, title or working title, medium, dimensions and expected retail price. Work can be finished or substantially in progress; if it isn’t finished, please include an image of the work so far.

  • Selection

Space is limited, so unfortunately we won’t be able to include every submission.

We’ll select work to create a varied and cohesive exhibition across different media, subjects, sizes and price points. One or both works may be selected, or all or part of a small collection.

  • Ready to Display

Selected work must arrive ready to hang or display. Wall-based work should have secure hanging fixings. Where framing is appropriate, simple, neutral frames are preferred.

  • Delivery

Artists are responsible for getting selected work to Calgary Gallery.

If sending by post or courier, please use strong packaging that can be reused for the return journey.

  • After the Exhibition

Artists are responsible for collection or return delivery costs. Where helpful, Calgary Gallery can arrange the return postage and charge the actual cost.
