The unyielding, persistent force of the sea against the rocky shore is vividly portrayed in this painting. The sharpened and torn profile of the shoreline is echoed through the technique of scraping back the surface of the canvas and laying the ripped surfaces into the surge of white and grey paint. This interplay captures the relentless energy and dynamic nature of the sea’s constant embrace.
