Original acrylic on canvas by David Page.
One of fourteen paintings from David's exhibition - Shoreward Mull.
This painting embodies the theme of departure. Here, the canvas is left airy and exposed, inviting the ethereal light of the shallow, sandy bay to dance across its surface. The scene is idyllic, yet poignant, as on the northern edge of the bay stands a derelict 19th-century pier crafted from pink granite. It is recorded in historical texts as being the departure point for emigrant ships during Mull’s 19th century forced depopulation era.
Each painting in the SHOREWARD Mull exhibition is accompanied by a limited edition, large-format book, featuring the full collection and David's insightful personal notes.
